Coastline customers received the best possible Christmas present when they collected the keys for their new homes in Troon on Monday (December 15th).
The second phase of Hyns An Grellas welcomed 12 families to the new-build close, following 14 allocations in the first phase in October.
The Troon development, which is 100 per cent social housing provision for those with a Camborne connection, comprises seven one-bedroom houses, 10 with two bedrooms, seven with three bedrooms and two with four bedrooms.
One new resident to Hyns An Grellas is Nicole, who was evicted at short notice from her house in Hayle.
Together with her three-year-old son, she moved back into her mum’s house in Camborne – but she was unable to take their beloved labradoodle Nala, and reluctantly had to foster her.
Nicole, who has chronic fatigue syndrome ME, said: “Moving in here is absolute bliss – to have peace and quiet, my own space, and a garden for my son to play with his toys. We can’t wait to be reunited with Nala too.”

For mum-of-four Melissa, her new three-bedroom home creates much-needed space, having lived in a two-bedroom house in Camborne.
Melissa said: “We moved into the two-bedroom house ten years ago, which was fine when we had two children. However, I’ve since had two more girls, so my 13 year-old son is absolutely delighted to finally have his own bedroom.”
Melissa added that she had been looking for a larger home for the past couple of years, and upped her search on the Homechoice housing register in April.
Besides the extra indoor space provided by their new home, the children will also be able to enjoy a large, enclosed garden, in contrast to their previous outdoor area which was she described as a “puddle of mud” for much of the year.
