Denise has gone above and beyond to support people.
Denise has been a member of the volunteer team at Coastline's Homeless Service since August 2019. At the time the service was in the process of moving from a converted twelve bed house into an eighteen bed purpose built building named Chi Winder, with facilities open to crisis and supported accommodation residents seven days per week. This increase in service delivery meant that Chi Winder required additional volunteers to meet/greet and help individuals accessing the service throughout the week.
Denise's passion and experience lies in community work, working towards the social inclusion of those that have traditionally been marginalised within society. This led to her initial interest in joining the homeless service team as an Engagement Volunteer.
Denise spent her time listening to individual's stories, encouraging them to access the services on offer at Chi Winder as well as promoting services/ activities available to them in the community.
When the pandemic hit in March 2020 Denise volunteered from home offering befriending calls to those that felt isolated in our supported accommodation.
Denise's now delivers wellbeing course as well as one-to-one sessions at the Chi Winder day centre.
