Welcome to our May Cost of Living newsletter featuring updates about support available locally, tips for staying on top of your finances and more.
We're here to help, so If you need advice call 01209 200200 and ask to speak to the Tenancy Sustainment Team or your Income Officer. You can also send a message using My Coastline or email income@coastlinehousing.co.uk.
Universal Credit – Managed Migration
If you are of working age and receive Income Support, Tax Credits, Housing Benefit or Job Seekers Allowance, the Department of Work and Pensions will write to you by September 2024 to invite you to make a claim for Universal Credit.
Once you receive your letter it will tell you what you need to do next, but in the meantime here is some useful information from Citizens Advice.
If you receive your letter and you’re unsure about what this means for your rent payments please do get in touch with us.
Start saving with Housing Perks

Food Support
If you are struggling with food or want to help reduce waste take a look at this interactive food map: Help with Food | Let's Talk Cornwall.
You can see what’s on offer in your local area, no referrals are needed and all the information you need is shown on the website.
Here at Coastline we may be able to issue you a one-off £50 supermarket voucher to help if you are struggling. These can only be accessed once and we will ask to see expenditure information while you are assisted by our Tenancy Sustainment Team.
Parent Power
People Hub Cornwall is working with Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change (CN4C) to provide specialist, personalised support to unemployed and under employed parents/carers who have experienced a variety of life traumas.
The support aims to help parents/carers ‘find their power’ and develop skills to progress on a pathway to up-skilling and employment.
If this sounds like something you’re interested in give CN4C a call on 01209 310610 or drop them an email info@cn4c.org.uk.
Children’s Clothing Bank
There's a Children’s Clothing Bank for ages 0-16 every first Tuesday of the month at Camborne Parish Church. You do not need a referral or to provide information about your income, and they take requests if there’s something specific you need for your child.
Visit their Facebook page for more details.
Household Support Fund
Cornwall Council has secured a further £4.5 million to continue the Household Support Fund until September 2024.
Payments will be made to low-income households to help with energy, water and food costs, as well as other household essentials.
To find out more about the Household Support Fund and who is eligible for help, please visit Household Support Fund - Cornwall Council
Coastline's Sustainability Fund
This fund is to support customers in crisis. An assessment of your situation will be completed to ascertain the circumstances and the level of risk to understand how we can assist you. This assistance will be proportionate and appropriate to the situation, with your best interests at the heart.
In addition to financial support through the Sustainability Fund, Coastline can help directly through advice such as:
- fuel debt advice in the community
- money saving tips
- help with loss of heating/hot water.
Find out more on our Financial Support page.
