Coastline Housing has secured a victory against a serious Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) perpetrator in Illogan and has been granted an outright Possession Order following a recent court case.
The perpetrator had been causing nuisance in the form of noise and intimidating behaviour since he moved into the property in 2022.
Prior to issuing the possession claim, Coastline had repeatedly taken steps to try and resolve the issues, working with neighbours, local Police and Cornwall Council’s Anti-Social Behaviour Team.
Unfortunately, the ASB continued to escalate which led to a judge granting possession and later a bailiff warrant after the keys to the property were not returned to us. The warrant was executed this week, locks have been changed and the property made secure.
A spokesperson from Coastline Housing said: “After what has been a long and difficult journey involving a lot of hard work, this is a great result and relief for all the neighbours who have been intimidated by this behaviour. Unfortunately, the property will now need a lot of work in order to bring it back up to a habitable standard so we are turning our attention to this next.
“Pursuing an eviction is always the very last resort for Coastline but we must take a firm stance against Anti-Social Behaviour in all its forms. Everyone deserves to feel safe and respected in their communities and we are committed to protecting this quality of life for our residents.”
The judge also issued an injunction which is in place until 4pm on 22nd August 2026 to stop the perpetrator causing further nuisance, threatening or violent behaviour or annoyance in the road he previously resided in. Neighbours have been advised to contact the police if they believe this injunction is being breached.
