We’re looking for a Building Safety expert who wants a new challenge. You could have any background in building safety, not only housing. This is your chance to make a real impact using your skills and expertise to ensure Coastline continues to keep our customers safe in their homes.

The role

Your responsibilities will include all aspects of building safety and compliance, such as Legionella, asbestos, fire safety, lifts, and radon. This is an increasingly important area of work, and as a senior member of our team you will report to the Head of Property Investment and Compliance and work closely with the Deputy Head. You will manage a team of technical experts and oversee the safety of our homes, a high quality Extra Care Scheme, and modern Homeless Crisis accommodation, meaning there’s plenty of variety and never a dull day! Uniquely, although we have 5,500 homes, none of them are in high-rise buildings over 11.2m.

At Coastline, we prioritise our customers’ safety and satisfaction. We know our customers well, with our in-house facilities team on the ground conducting weekly safety checks, contributing to an impressive 88% customer satisfaction rate that places us in the top quartile.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the safety and compliance of all properties.
• Manage and lead a team of technical experts.
• Conduct quality checks and manage contractors.
• Oversee budget management and cost forecasting.
• Work directly with customers, translating technical matters into easily-understood guidance.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is qualified in or willing to undertake these qualifications in the first year of appointment:

• Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety or equivalent - ideally a NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety supported by practical application or a further practical qualification such as an IFE-accredited Level 3 Certificate in Fire Safety for Fire Auditors.
• Membership of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) or a similar safety body.
• Asbestos Management P405, Legionella Responsible Person, and lift management certifications.
• Demonstrable contractor management experience with ability to carry out quality checks.
• Sound IT skills including Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Project management skills and experience.

Salary for this role is within the range £46,000 - £59,000. Please note your salary will be reflected according to your individual circumstances.

A full driving licence and a satisfactory standard DBS check are essential for this role.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Head of Innovation, Sustainability & Procurement to push forward plans to reduce our environmental impact across the business. The Sustainability Analyst is a permanent role which will manage regular reports and audits to show how Coastline is delivering the Environmental Strategy. As part of this role you will identify carbon savings. This will allow Coastline to gain more income through Carbon Credits, which in turn will create more opportunities which you will help assess and manage. You will also be actively involved across the business encouraging other teams to think more environmentally, with plenty of opportunities to learn and acquire new skills. We are looking for someone who is passionate about sustainability. Who can work as part of a team, but also use initiative and work independently with an organised and analytical approach to their work.

The use of Microsoft Office programmes will be essential to the role and a full driving licence and access to a vehicle would be an advantage.

About the job

We need someone to come in and hit the ground running so experience of working in an HR generalist role is essential. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic individual to join us as our newest Roofing Apprentice. You'll attend St Austell college once a week and on the other four days, work on-the-job, on site with our roofing team actively learning all aspects of the roofing profession.

This is a two year Fixed Term Contract determined by the length of the Level 2 Roofing Apprenticeship qualification. It is due to start in January 2025.

As your course progresses you'll be introduced to various work streams across the business including Responsive Repairs and Minor Planned. You'll be allocated a work mentor, given comprehensive training, guidance and support and have access to Coastline's internal Apprentice networking group, where Apprentices across the business get together to provide support, share experiences and build personal and professional relationships.

We have two roles available and the offer of employment will be subject to successful acceptance on the College course.

Successful candidates will have a basic education, be keen and enthusiastic learners and embody Coastline’s core values.

As Coastline’s Water and Drainage Engineer you will manage our water mains, drainage and waste water treatment facilities, ensuring that they are maintained to appropriate standards and remain legally compliant at all times. You will have demonstrable skills in maintenance and investment projects, including CDM, planning, pre-contract, post-contract and safety. In addition, you should hold an HNC in Civil Engineering or related water/drainage qualification, or have equivalent direct experience and have excellent knowledge of waste water treatment, plants and processes. You will need good IT skills including Excel. This role requires a full driving licence, access to a vehicle, and is subject to a basic DBS check. We have an exciting role at Coastline as our Projects and Technical Manager. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of key investment and planned maintenance projects for Coastline from start to finish, together with supporting the Property Surveyor's Team.

In addition, providing extensive technical support on the development of our new homes, including maintenance of our existing housing and non residential assets. Good knowledge of health and safety legislation required of a social housing landlord, including CDM Regulations, construction site requirements, Fire Regulations and Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) are essential. You will hold a Degree or have extensive experience in the profession. RICS or MCIOB would be an advantage. Knowledge of Building Regulations, together with other building legislation. You will have an understanding of Social Landlord specific requirements for construction projects, Housing Health and Safety Rating Systems (HHSRS), together with a wider understanding of the building industry.
